This interview is one in a series of interviews with founding members of the Rounce & Coffin Club, a group of hobby printers and librarians. Hoffman recalls his early years in Los Angeles, his training and work as a fine printer, and discusses the printshop and printing management program at Los Angeles City College and California State University Los Angeles, respectively.

The Rounce & Coffin Club began in late 1931 at the house of Jake (Jacob) Zeitlin in Echo Park (Los Angeles), California. Grant Dahlstrom was named President and Ward Ritchie was designated secretary. The members met frequently at Zeitlin's house and later at hotels in Pasadena.
